Minutes of a meeting of the GENERAL PURPOSE/FINANCE COMMITTEE, Arlesey Town Council held in the Village Hall, Arlesey on Tuesday 21 October 2008. PRESENT: Cllrs: I Dalgarno (Chairman) R Harris D Beatham C Howitt J Caffrey Ms C Marshall N Daniels D West H Harper Also present: Mrs L Rowe (Assistant Clerk) Cllr D Page 129 APOLOGIES No apologies for absence were received 130 MEMBERS INTERESTS No declarations of personal or prejudicial interests were received 131 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION None 132 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 15 July 2008 be confirmed and signed by the Chairman as a true record 133 MATTERS ARISING There were no matters arising from the previous meeting. 134 CORRESPONDENCE (a) Arlesey Community Resource Centre Macmillan Coffee Morning The Chairman read the letter from the Resource Centre Manager and said that the Macmillan Coffee Morning had been well attended and a total of £285.34 was raised for this very worthy cause. (b) BRCC Information on the Bedfordshire Community Transport Brokerage The Chairman explained that the Bedfordshire Community Transport Brokerage was a clearing house for mini buses and he informed Members how the scheme worked. (c) Shanks Price increase The Chairman informed Members of the increase in price and this was noted. (d) Bedfordshire County Council Update on the Bedfordshire Pension Fund The Chairman informed Members that from 1 April 2009 the new administering authority for the pension fund would be Bedford Borough Council. (e) IDN Telecom Charges for rental of telephone and fax lines The Chairman informed Members that an email had been received from IDN Telecom advising the Town Council that they could benefit from cost savings on telephone and fax lines. Members agreed that BT should be approached so see if they were able to match these savings. AGREED to contact BT to see if they are able to match the savings offered by IDN Telecom (f) Zurich Correspondence concerning the proposed changes to the Zurich Financial Services Group Structure The Chairman reported on the proposed changes to the Zurich Financial Services Group Structure and this was noted (g) Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity Annual General Meeting The Chairman informed Members of the Annual General Meeting of Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity on 3 November 2008. Cllr Harper said that he would attend. 135 CREATING CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL Prior to the meeting Members received the fourth Stakeholder Update keeping the Town Council and Arlesey residents up to date with the creation of the new Central Bedfordshire Council. This will be posted on the website and notice boards with copies available in the office. RESOLVED to note this information 136 FIRE RESISTANT FOUR DRAWER FILING CABINET The Chairman read out the prices for a four drawer fire resistant filing cabinet for the safe keeping of burial records and legal documents. It was agreed to recommend to the Town Council to purchase the one and half hour fire resistant Sun Filing Cabinet for £885.60.
