ARLESEY TOWN COUNCIL Minutes of a meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE, Arlesey Town Council held in the Village Hall, Arlesey on Tuesday 19 April 2011. PRESENT: Cllrs: N Daniels (Chairman) R Harris Mrs D Archer C Howitt Mrs L Bowskill D Page J Caffrey M Rainbow I Dalgarno D West H Harper A White Also present: Mrs E Hare (Town Clerk) and Mrs L Rowe (Assistant Clerk) and 16 members of the public plus one member of the press. The Chairman of the Council Cllr Hugh Harper asked all the members of the public present to switch off their mobile phones and reminded them recording devices were not to be used during the meeting. 593 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE Apologies for absence were received from Cllr Mrs C Harris and Cllr V Williams 594 MEMBERS’ INTERESTS No declarations of personal or prejudicial interests were received. Cllr I Dalgarno, as he is also a Central Bedfordshire Councillor, took no part in the voting on the planning application agenda item 6 and 6 (b) 595 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION A member of the public spoke on behalf of a group to raise their objections to the planning application for 65 Hitchin Road and 1A London Row. 596 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING Members received a copy of the minutes of the Planning Committee meeting held on 5 April 2011. RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting of the Planning Committee held on the 5 April 2011 be confirmed and signed by the Chairman as a true record. 597 MATTERS ARISING There were no matters arising from the previous meeting. 598 PLANNING APPLICATIONS CB/TPO/11/00096 – Prune back overhanging branches from one Oak tree overhanging the garden boundary of 1A Lewis Lane – 1 Lewis Lane, Arlesey SG15 6FB Recommended: to approve this proposal no objections from the Town Council (b) CB/11/00729/FULL – 2 No. one bedroom flats in two storey block and single storey extension to 1A London Row and modification to existing car parking areas – 65 Hitchin Road and 1A London Row, Arlesey SG15 6RS Recommended: To REFUSE this proposal on the following grounds; over-development, not in keeping with the street scene, insufficient parking space because of multiple occupancy and this will damage the amenities of neighbouring properties The Town Council would like to point out that a tree with a preservation order which was outside number 65 Hitchin Road was removed when the extension and alterations (08/00256/FULL) were being carried out in 2008.
