Minutes of a meeting of the PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE, Arlesey Town Council held in the Village Hall, Arlesey on Tuesday 22 January 2008 at 6.30pm PRESENT: Cllrs: J Caffrey (Chairman) R Harris I Dalgarno Ms C Marshall ALSO PRESENT: Cllrs: H Harper and M Rainbow Mrs L Rowe (Assistant Clerk) 1 APOLOGIES An apology was received from Cllr Mrs D Archer 2 ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN Nominated: Cllr J Caffrey Proposed: Cllr I Dalgarno Seconded: Cllr Ms C Marshall RESOLVED that Cllr J Caffrey be Chairman for the ensuing year 3 ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIRMAN Nominated: Cllr Ms C Marshall Proposed: Cllr I Dalgarno Seconded: Cllr R Harris RESOLVED that Cllr Ms C Marshall be Vice-Chairman for the ensuing year 4 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION None 5 MEMBERS’ INTEREST There were no declarations of personal or prejudicial interests received 6 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING RESOLVED the minutes of the meeting held on 19 September 2006 were presented and signed as a correct record 7 NEWSLETTER (a) To discuss items for inclusion in the Spring/Summer Newsletter Members discussed items to be included in the Spring newsletter: · A large section on the Family Fun Day · Vandalism · Financial section reminding people what the Town Council run and explaining why the precept for Arlesey has increased by 11%, ie Resource Centre, upgrading the bus shelters and play area · The entry form for Arlesey in Bloom competition should be put in the newsletter in order to encourage more people to enter this year (b) Enquiries regarding advertising The Assistant Clerk reported that there had been a few enquiries from people asking if they could advertise in the newsletter. Members felt that local businesses should be allowed to advertise and enquiries should be made to the former parish newsletter as to how much they used to charge advertisers 8 FAMILY FUN DAY (a) To discuss Hanging Basket and Arlesey in Bloom competitions and prizes to be given on the Fun Day Cllr Harper said that the Town Plan committee would organise the Arlesey in Bloom competition again and would provide the prizes. Cllr Ms Marshall said that she would design the entry form (b) Advertising the event i.e. full page display in newsletter The Fun Day would be put on the website now and it should be advertised in the Comet and Chronicle 3 or 4 weeks before the event 9 WEBSITE (a) To discuss items for inclusion on the website The Fun Day details would be put on now and if any members thought of anything else that could be put on the website then they should contact the office (b) Staff training in January The Chairman reported that the Town Clerk and Assistant Clerk were attending half-day training courses this week. He also thought that maybe the website could do with updating to make it more interesting CHAIRMAN |
