Citizens Advice Services now available in Stotfold

To improve access to its services, Citizens Advice has now opened a satellite office in Stotfold.  The satellite is based at the Stotfold Town Council offices at The Greenacre Centre, Valerian Way, Stotfold, SG5 4HG.   Opening hours are 10 am to 12.30 pm every Thursday.

Manager Jenny Hedges explained; “Our Bureau serves 8 towns and 38 parishes in the north of central Bedfordshire whilst our offices are based only in Ampthill and Biggleswade.  We recognise that it can be difficult for people in some communities to use our service, hence the opening of this new satellite office.  If you wish to use the service, do just ‘drop in’. We look forward to seeing you.”

You can also contact Citizens Advice by e mail.  Just go to the web site and contact them using the online form.

Are you looking for a challenge?

Citizens Advice is looking for volunteers to join its team of assessors and advisers.

Citizens Advice volunteers help people with a wide range of problems including debt, benefits, housing, employment and family matters. The first call from a new client is handled by an assessor who takes all the initial details in to prepare for a subsequent interview with a trained adviser.

Manager Jenny Hedges said; “All our volunteers start as assessors and then decide if they want to take on the adviser’s role.  We are looking for volunteers to join our new assessor training programme. This programme will take place at our Ampthill office over an eight week period towards the end of April so candidates would need to be able to get to the bureau and be willing to train for a minimum of five hours per week. Volunteer travel expenses are paid. All sorts of people volunteer for the CAB, but one thing that unites them all is that they find it challenging, rewarding and varied – and you never stop learning.”

If you are interested in becoming a CAB adviser, please contact Jenny Hedges, Bureau Manager on 01462 819570.
