Arlesey Village Hall is situated approximately five minutes from junction 10 of the A1. It is in the centre of the village and is part of the Arlesey Community Centre.

PLEASE NOTE: A £50.00 (fifty pound) BOND is required when the hiring includes a bar, £30.00 (thirty pound) BOND for other bookings, which will be returned if the Hall is left in a good and clean condition and is vacated at the correct time. The Bond should be paid at the time of booking and will count as the deposit. An invoice will be sent out for the balance during the month prior to the booking and must be PAID NOT LATER THAN 14 DAYS BEFORE THE DATE OF HIRE. Failure to do so will make the booking null and void.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST ANY VEHICLE BE PARKED ON THE PEDESTRIAN RIGHT OF WAY OR ANY FURNITURE BE REMOVED FROM THE HALL WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL.
ALL RUBBISH INCURRED DURING THE HIRING OF THE HALL MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE PREMISES AT THE END OF THE HIRING PERIOD OR THE DEPOSIT WILL BE FORFEIT.
The Hall will be unlocked and locked by the Caretaker - the key is not available to hirers. A representative from the booking must be at the Hall within 15 minutes of the booking time, otherwise the hall will be locked up, entry will not be guaranteed and no refunds will be made. It is necessary for security reasons, that a representative remains at the Hall until the Caretaker arrives to lock up at the end of the hiring period.
CONDITIONS OF LETTING
1. All applications for use of the hall and other ancillary accommodation must be made through the Town Council. No hiring will be permitted after midnight except on New Year’s Eve. 2. The hours of hiring shall be as stated when the booking is made, and all preparation and clearing time is to be included in the hours of hiring. 3. A deposit is payable at the time of booking (see condition 5), which will not be returned if the booking is cancelled 1 calendar month or less before the date required. 4. The Town Council requires a bond to be made on all bookings (see Letting Charges) that will be returned if the hall is left in a good and clean condition and is vacated at the time stated on the booking form. Where an adverse report is received concerning the unsatisfactory condition of any area of the building that was hired and if the building was not vacated at the correct time, the bond will be forfeit. 5. For functions where the Town Council requires a bond to be paid, this should, where possible, be paid by cheque. This will count as the deposit and will be returned provided that condition 4 has been met. 6. Charitable Functions – applications for reduced charges shall be made in writing to the Town Council when bookings are made. The function must be of an educational, charitable or cultural nature. Permission will not be given for the village hall to be used for discotheques for private financial gain. 7. The premises may only be hired for the purpose stated on the booking form. The hirer shall not sub-let or remove any equipment or furniture from the village hall. 8. When seats are used for concerts, lectures, meetings or entertainments, gangways and passages (not less than 4 feet in width), must be kept clear of obstructions. The maximum permitted capacity is 220 for any function. 9. The village hall is licensed by the Performing Rights Society and those relevant bookings that use music will be charged accordingly. 10. The hirer shall pay for all damage which may be done to the building or items therein belonging to the Town Council during the period of hire (the value of such damage being assessed by the Council), and shall leave the building and items therein in as good and clean condition as they were at the time of entry. 11. Nothing shall be hung, lodged or suspended against, nailed to or allowed within 1 foot of the walls or ceiling except by express agreement of the Council. 12. The hirer must take all necessary steps to prevent disorderly conduct in the hired areas which shall be open to all members of the Council, Police Officers and other such officers on duty, who shall have full power to enforce the observation of these conditions and take such steps as may be necessary for the preservation of peace and good order. If the attendance of the Fire Brigade or Police is necessary during any period of hire, the Hirer may be responsible for meeting any charges levied by them. The Council reserves the right to refuse admission or re-admission to the hall. Admittance will not be granted after 2200hrs to any function where an admission fee is charged. 13. No light of any kind beyond the ordinary lights provided by the Town Council shall be put up or used, except with the written consent of the Council. In the event of any unauthorised lighting being put up or used, this may be removed by the officers or employees of the Council. Any activities which, in the opinion of the Council or their agent, may cause a risk of fire, will be stopped and removed by the Council who will take precautions as deemed necessary. All expenses incurred thereby shall be passed onto the hirer. 14. The Spot Lights are not available for functions other than stage plays, pantomimes or concerts and the hirer must have the written permission of the Town Council. 15. No electrical fittings shall be removed, altered or added to without the consent of the Town Council. 16. The hirer shall pay for all damage which may be done to the building or items belonging to the Town Council during the period of hire (the value of such being assessed by the Council), and shall leave the buildings and items therein, in as good condition as they were at the time of entry. 17. No animals of any kind may be brought into the building except with permission from the Town Council (with the exception of Guide Dogs). 18. The hirer is to remove all catering and other refuse created by the hiring on the day of the function. 19. The hirer must be conversant with the location of first aid and fire fighting equipment, and procedures for emergency evacuation of the premises (see P.10). The provision of door stewards is also the responsibility of the hirer. 20. The hirer shall be responsible for obtaining appropriate licenses for the sale or supply of alcohol. This license to terminate no later than 2330 hrs (except on New Year’s Eve when an extension may be granted). 21. Car parking facilities are provided. Vehicles and and cycles are parked at the owner’s risk and the Council will not be responsible for any loss or damage incurred whilst on Council property, There should be no parking on the pedestrian highway. 22. No-one under the age of 18 will be permitted to make a booking. 23. The Town Council does not accept responsibility for injury to persons, or loss or damage to the property of persons attending the village hall or car park. In order to protect the organisers and users of the hall, a premium of 10% of the letting charge (hours only), will be charged for all events to ensure that they are covered by Public Liability Insurance. Groups who have their own insurance will be required to provide a copy of their insurance certificate on an annual basis and no additional charge will be incurred. 24. The caretaker will open and close the hall in accordance with the times on the booking form. Hirers must remain in the hall until their hiring finishes – ON NO ACCOUNT MUST THE HALL BE LEFT UNLOCKED. 25. Due to insurance implications the use of inflatable castles and other similar equipment is forbidden in the hall. 26. The side exit doors should not be used unless in an emergency except with the permission of the Town Council. 27. In the event of a hirer failing to observe and perform all or any of the above mentioned conditions which, on his part are to be observed and performed, the Council shall be at liberty to enter the premises and terminate the hiring without previous notice to the hirer, and they shall not be entitled in such an event to recover any charges.
PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT
Arlesey Village Hall is licensed under Section 1 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, for the purpose of public entertainment consisting of music, dancing, singing or any other entertainment of a like kind. The conditions, which are attached to the Licence, can be obtained from the Town Council office, but those, which directly affect the hirer, include:
FACILITIES
Hall (approx 15m x 9m) The hall has an additional stage area which is 9m x 4m. This is curtained at the front and has separate lighting. There are mobile steps at either side for access. The maximum capacity for the Hall is 220. There are 29 tables (approx 6’ x 2’) and approximately 290 chairs for use in the Hall.
KitchenThe kitchen is equipped with a double sink, electric cooker, food warmer, electric urn and kettles and ample electric sockets. There are tea pots and a limited number of cups and saucers for making and serving hot drinks. There is a serving hatch which opens onto the Hall.
Bar AreaAccess to the Bar is through the Hall and there is a serving hatch into the hall. There is a sink, a fridge and worktop areas.
ToiletsLadies and gents toilets are situated either side of the foyer and there is a toilet for the disabled opposite the kitchen.
Changing RoomsThere are two changing rooms at the back of the stage which can also be accessed from the back of the building, which include a shower.
Fire safety equipment and first aid supplies meet the statutory requirements.
SHOULD THERE BE AN EMERGENCY E.G. A FIRE, ALL THOSE IN THE HALL MUST LEAVE BY THE NEAREST EXIT AND CONGREGATE IN THE CAR PARK AWAY FROM THE BUILDING.
PARKING
There is a car park adjacent to the Village Hall for the patrons of the Community Centre. There are two disabled parking bays and access to the hall for disabled persons is via the front entrance. Vehicles parked in the car park must not obstruct any doorways or emergency exits and are left there at the owners risk.
