Minutes of a meeting of the ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE, Arlesey Town Council held in the Village Hall, Arlesey on Tuesday 21 October 2008. PRESENT: Cllrs: R Harris (Chairman) C Howitt I Dalgarno Ms C Marshall N Daniels M Rainbow H Harper D West Also present: Mrs L Rowe (Assistant Clerk) Cllr J Caffrey Cllr D Beatham Cllr D Page 64 APOLOGIES An apology for absence was received from Cllr V Williams 65 MEMBERS’ INTERESTS No declarations of personal or prejudicial interest were received 66 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION None 69 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 15 July 2008 be confirmed and signed by the Chairman as a true record. 70 MATTERS ARISING RoSPA had been contacted about the discrepancy in their report that was raised by Cllr Harris in Minute 61 (a). It had been an error on their part and the report should have read: the 3.0M fence adjacent to the car park was in “Poor Condition (score 1 to 20) and represented a High Risk (score 4) at the time of the inspection on 20 May 2008. 71 CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA, BMX AND SKATE PARK (a) Litter bins The Chairman reported that the last of the litter bins in the BMX/Skate Park had been destroyed and this had been removed. Members felt that it was not necessary to replace this as even when there was a bin there it didn’t get used and litter was strewn across the area. (b) Skate Park Notice The Assistant Clerk reported that the Skate Park Notice was being made and should be ready shortly. 72 GRASSCUTTING The Chairman read out an email that the Clerk had sent to A R Worboys requesting Stotfold Road and Hitchin Road be cut as soon as possible and also informing them that Stotfold Road may need a further cut before the end of the growing season. Members discussed the possibility of reviewing the grass cutting contracts in the future particularly once the new unitary authority was in operation because the Town Council may want to take responsibility for additional services. 73 TOWN BENCHES Cllr Harper reported that he and the Clerk had looked at the town benches and informed the Members which benches needed attention. The Clerk had already asked Mr Jones to repair and varnish the one in London Row and Cllr Harper said that the one near the War Memorial needed replacing.74 CORRESPONDENCE The Chairman read the correspondence from Bedfordshire Playing Fields Association informing Members of their Annual General Meeting on 22 October 2008. 75 ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENTS The following accounts due for payment were put forward to members for approval Handyman September 2008 488.97 EON Street lighting electricity 177.26 Mick Rainbow Play area/Rec Grd Cuts 14 & 15 200.00 RESOLVED that these accounts should be paid CHAIRMAN
