Proposed Temporary Road Closure – A600 Bedford Rd., Henlow

I have a request for a Temporary Road Closure at the above location to enable patching and surface dressing work to be carried out in safety. Details are listed in the schedule below and having assessed the application I am satisfied the request is justified.

The alternative route for diverted traffic is as shown below and will be signed accordingly. The restrictions are to be in operation only when the necessary signs are erected on site. The Legal Order will be made to cover a twelve month period, however the closure is expected to take place on 4 periods of up to three days from 17^th October to end December 2011 and during April/May and June/July, also August/September 2012 between 0900 and 1530hrs. Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time. Access may be allowed from time to time according to local signing.

If you have any observations you wish to make I would be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible.

Reason: To enable patching and surface dressing work to be carried out in safety.

Length affected: From roundabout with B659 Hitchin Rd to roundabout with A507..

Date: Closure is expected to take place on 4 periods of three days from 17^th October to end December 2011 and during April/May and June/July, also August/September 2012 between 0900 and 1530hrs. Access may be allowed from time to time according to local signing.

Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time.

Alternative Route:- At roundabout with A507 proceed on A507 in an easterly direction to roundabout with B659 Hitchin Rd. Take 3^rd exit and continue on B659 to roundabout with A600 Bedford Rd and site and vice versa.

N.B. The applicant will be responsible for taking down all Central Bedfordshire Council public notices immediately after the works requiring the order have been completed

Length affected: From roundabaout with B659, Henlow to roundabout with Stotfold Rd., Arlesey

Date: For 4 periods of up to three days from 17^th October to end December 2011 and during April/May, and June/July, also August/September 2012 between 0900 and 1530hrs. Access may be allowed from time to time according to local signing.

Alternative Route: Proceed on A507 to slip road to A1 northbound. Continue on A1 to round about with A603 at Sandy. Take 1^st exit and continue on A603 to Cardington Interchange roundabout with A421. Take slip road onto A421 westbound and continue on A421 to offslip to A6. Turn left onto A6 southbound and continue to roundabout with A507. Take 1^st exit and continue on A507 to roundabout with B659 Henlow and site and vice versa.

NB. The applicant will be responsible for taking down all Central Bedfordshire Council public notices immediately after the works requiring the Order have been completed.

w	J & D TRAVEL E7 The new bus service which was inaugurated earlier this year and on trial, being the only direct service to Letchworth for Arlesey residents – Monday to Friday – is still on "on trial." This is due to the fact that although Henlow, Clifton and Langford make use of the service Arlesey residents are very few in number using the service. IF WE DON’T USE IT – WE SHALL LOSE IT!!!! – so we are appealing to all to give it a try. It widens our horizons as we can also visit Biggleswade direct. Timetables are available at Arlesey Resource Centre and Gothic House.

w	The Arlesey Archive Group meets at 3 P.M. on the last Tuesday of every month. Everyone is welcome, and we are interested in old photos of Arlesey and the people of Arlesey. All photos will be returned to the owners.
