ARLESEY YOUTH ZONE

The Youth Zone is a project that will provide much needed facilities for the older children in Arlesey.

The BMX track consisting of nine pieces of equipment including weaving posts, take off ramps and see saws, was installed last September 2004 and has been well used. Unfortunately in April 2005 one of the ramps was destroyed by fire and although it will be replaced, this is a length process as we have to get clearance from our insurance company. If anyone knows who id this we would be grateful for the information.

Currently we are waiting to hear whether Biffa have awarded us the final £27,000 required to complete the project. If this comes through the skate facility will be able to go ahead. This will consist of a half pipe, a street scene consisting of a quarter pipe, fun box and a flat bank and two grind rails. We are hoping that this will be up and running before the end of this summer (2005).

In total the Youth Zone will have cost approximately £85,000 of which £60,000 has been raised through various funders included the Arlesey Youth Zone Project Forum who have raised over £1,800 through the two 'Rock-fests' that were held in the Village Hall in 2003 and 2004.
